Learn what to expect in your family violence intervention program
All group meetings are held on zoom. You may need to download the zoom app to your device. Your facilitator will send you an email with the link to the meeting you are assigned, along with the meeting ID in case you cannot use the link.
Groups are on zoom. You do not need to have a zoom account to attend groups. You can go to zoom.us and click “join meeting.” It will ask you for the meeting ID. It will also ask you for permission to use your camera and device audio. Please do not click the “call in” selection when selecting your audio. When you enter the room, you may be muted and have to connect to the audio. Please tap your screen or hover your mouse over the screen and a menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. Your audio and camera buttons are the two left icons. If a red line appears through the microphone or camera icons, it means that your camera or microphone are turned off. If you are on a phone, you may have to swipe your finger from right to left across the screen to see the other participants in the meeting.

Georgia Reentry Center's family violence intervention program (FVIP) program is specifically designed to intervene with regards to intimate partner violence and assist with how to be in a relationship without the violence. Violence is viewed as learned behavior that is primarily motivated by a desire, whether conscious or unconscious, by the abuser to control the victim (Adams, 2003). It is seen as one of many forms of abusive behaviors chosen by abusers to have power and control over someone. The FVIP is a 90-minute weekly class for 24-weeks in an online group setting class following the approved STOP Domestic Violence standards, ensuring quality treatment. The goal is to rehabilitate family violence offenders by holding them accountable, transform their way of thinking, and prioritize victim safety while eliminating domestic violence and abuse.
